Who We Are

Supermileage

The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology and BYU Mechanical Engineering Department sponsors a team of students to design, build, and compete with a single-person, gasoline-powered, fuel-efficient vehicle. The purposes of the SAE Supermileage competition are to provide students with a multi-disciplinary design experience and to promote public awareness of the potential of fuel-saving technologies.

The supermileage drivers are key to a successful run. While it may not seem like driving a car going an average of 15MPH is hard, every turn can result in energy loss. Finding drivers is almost as hard as driving the car with the tallest person to fit in the car being 5'6", not many people can actually drive in such tight conditions.
